VELMA "PEGGY" LEORA REPSTIEN

Velma "Peggy" Leora Repstien, 95, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A parish vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, conducted by the Rev. David O'Connor. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Velma was born July 6, 1923, in Springville, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Ethel (Goodlove) Armstrong. She was a 1941 graduate of Marion High School. On April 26, 1943, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Velma was united in marriage to Ralph Repstien. He passed away May 29, 1998. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years. Velma was employed at Kelly Field, Kramers Department Store, Killians, and later retired from Rockwell. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. Velma loved her flowers and was an avid trout fisherman.
She is survived by her sons, Roger (Shirley) Repstien of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Terry (Roxann) of Amana; son-in-law, Frank Apple of Marion; seven grandchildren, Stephen Apple of Marion, David (Sue) Apple of East Moline, Ill., Kristi (Matt) Peters of Altamonte Springs, Amy (John) Lewis of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Aric (Kelly) Repstien of Orlando, Fla., Jenilyn (David) Bower of Cedar Rapids and Cari Ann (Jesse) Lowery of Bremerton, Wash.; and 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; daughter, Patricia Apple; and brother, Gail Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Velma's memory may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or a charity of the donor's choice.
