JoAnn Moore, a daughter, a wife, a mother and a friend, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A reception will follow burial at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids.
JoAnn was born Nov. 3, 1935, to Matilda (Jiras) Stanek and Elmer Stanek. She married Gale Moore on July 22, 1953. They had five children together. When her children were half grown, she went back to school to complete her high school education. Then, after Gale and JoAnn divorced, she went to Capri Cosmetology and became a hair stylist. She ran her own business in Shueyville for many years and befriended many.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Matilda Stanek; and a son, Patrick Moore.
Surviving JoAnn are her children, Michael (Vicky) Moore, Tim (Carrie) Moore, Julie (Randy) Stoneman and James Moore. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
JoAnn had recently been living at Willow Gardens Care Center and had many friends there.
Memorials may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice or Camp Courageous.
