Chang Youl Douglas, 85, of Hiawatha, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Services: Today, 10 a.m., at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Wangsoo Kwon of Cedar Rock Korean Assembly of God Church. Burial: Arlington Memory Gardens, Choctaw, Okla. Friends may visit with the family Monday after 9:30 a.m. Attendance is and all in attendance must wear a mask and comply with social distancing guidelines.
Chang Youl is survived by her daughter, Sung Soon (Gary) Stultz of Bonita Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kevin (Mindy) Stultz of Eagan, Minn., Ryan (Sandhya) Stultz of Seattle, Wash., and Kelsey (Dan) Curry of Media, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Amara, Remy and Isaac; her brother, Young Koo Choi of Fayetteville, Ark.; and her sister, Young Soon Lee of Oklahoma.
Chang Youl was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Douglas; a brother, Young Bae Choi; and a sister, Dae Youl Goosen.
Chang Youl was born June 23, 1935, in Kangwoun-Do, South Korea, the daughter of Man Chan Choi and Chung Ok Jung. She married Billy Douglas on July 19, 1963, in Seoul, Korea. Billy died on March 31, 2001.
Chang Youl loved her family and God. She was the feisty matriarch of our family, who held us all together.
