Fredrick Charles McDonald, 80, of Brooklyn, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Father Corey Close officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. There will be a Scripture service at 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
Fred is survived by his children, Mary (Alan) Klein of Ladora, Michael (DeeDee) McDonald of Malcom, Phyllis (Terry) Morris of Malcom, LeeAnn McDonald (Mark Innis) of Grinnell and Eric "Moose" McDonald of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, in 2010; two daughters, JoEllen and LuAnn McDonald, in infancy; and his brother, Lou McDonald.
