Duffy, Ronald J.
Ronald J. Duffy, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Crestview Acres Nursing Home in Marion. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a 4 p.m. vigil service. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Ron was born to Virginia and Herbert Duffy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Nov. 19, 1940. He graduated from Marion High School in 1959. Ron retired from Rockwell Collins after 43 years. He married Patricia Parsons on April 15, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; daughters, Shannan (Terry) Wilson, Erin (Dan) Kopecky and Sarah C. Duffy; six grandsons, Michael and Christopher Price, Cody Wilson, Benjamin, Andrew and Patrick Kopecky; four great-grandchildren; and two beloved pets.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; and brothers, Tom, Frank, Bobby and Patrick.
Ron was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
Ron enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes with family and friends.
A special thanks to Hospice of Mercy and Crestview Acres Nursing Home for the care they gave him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
