Vera G. Wilson, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be at West Branch Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.

Vera was born June 8, 1919, in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Israel and Idella Frymoyer Peden. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Clarence Wilson on April 3, 1937, in Davenport. Vera retired from Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after being employed as a cook for many years. She had also worked as a cook at Crestview, as well as the Cookson Home in West Branch.
Vera was a member of Springdale United Methodist Church as well as the Springdale UMW. She was also a member of the Self Culture Club and served as a Cub/Boy Scout leader when her children were involved in scouting.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and Bingo and making quilts for her family. Spending time with her family was most important to Vera.
She is survived by her children, Janet Vikel of West Branch, Lester (Barb) Wilson of Marion, Dale (Judy) Wilson of Iowa City, Kenneth (Marilyn) Wilson of Marion, Connie (Allen) Tisinger of West Branch, Gary Wilson of North Liberty and Steve (Jean) Wilson of Iowa City; and her sister, Florence Ohrt of Sanborn, Iowa. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 58 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Judy; sisters, Eva, Mae, Violet and Serena; brothers, Henry and George; son-in-law, Earl Vikel;, grandson, Todd Wilson; and great-granddaughters, Kelcey Wilson and Kayla Thompson.
Vera's family would like to thank the staff at Crestview for the love and care they have given Vera for the past five years.
