Wilson, Donald Robert
DONALD ROBERT WILSON
Loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Born Cedar Rapids, Iowa, March 31, 1930; died Dallas, Texas, Jan. 22, 2011.
Don was the son of Robert Eugene and Marilyn Shine Wilson. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, graduated from the University of Iowa, with a degree in engineering, and moved to Dallas after college to work for Collins Radio. After leaving Collins, he founded and was president of CompuRoute Inc.; he later sold his company then worked for Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and as an adjunct instructor in the Dallas County Community College District.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Loftin Wilson; sister, Michelle Shane; and brother, Terrence Wilson.
He is survived by his second wife, Rose Marie Junge; children, Dana, Teri and Sam Wilson; grandsons, Owen and Greer Wilson-Chavez; stepsons, Michael and Chris Junge and their families; siblings, John and Gary Wilson, Mary Reyhons, Mary Jo Wilson, Ted and Char Wilson and Gary Shane; many nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of friends.
Don was a lifelong learner, possessed of great curiosity: a sailor, ham radio operator, a student of math (nearing a master's degree in math for the fun of it when he was 78); an adventurer with wit, a great sense of humor and a generous and loving heart.
He will be greatly missed by the many friends who admired and loved him.
The family invites you to share your memories on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Winfrey Point (on White Rock Lake), 951 Winfrey Point, Dallas.
