Michael Dale McFarland, 68, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, of pancreatic cancer at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton, with the Rev. Todd Hart officiating.
Mike was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Vinton, the son of Arthur and Mary Winterowd McFarland. He was raised and attended school in Vinton. Mike married Janice Olson and they later divorced. He married Sue Ann Lane and they later divorced. Mike worked as a carpenter, most recently for 14 years at Pro Build Co. in Walker, retiring in 2011. To his many friends, he was "Mikey" or "Uncle Mike." He enjoyed being around people and the camaraderie at the Ron-Da-Voo. However, his greatest pleasure came from time spent with family.
Mike is survived by his sons, "Little Mike" (Jamie) McFarland, Marion, Iowa, and Ben (Stephanie) McFarland, Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughter, Marinda (Josh) Williams, Norman, Okla.; sisters, Mary Watson (Dale Bruce), Neva Geinzer, Nancy Jones and Judy (Dan) Ortz; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Junior Corcoran and Doug Uthoff; sister-in-law, Deb McFarland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dalanna; brother, Jim; sisters, Linda Uthoff, Hazel Corcoran and Debbie Westcott; and brothers-in-law, Dale Watson, Dave Geinzer, DeWayne Jones and Chet Westcott.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
