BARBARA KALVIG

Barbara E. Kalvig, 62, of Oxford, died Friday, July 24, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at St. Mary's Hall in Oxford with a time of visitation before the service beginning at 4 p.m. Family committal services will take place later at the Oxford Cemetery.

Barbara Ellen Paintin was born Feb. 22, 1953, at home in Oxford, the daughter of Carl and Ellen (Frees) Paintin. She graduated from Clear Creek Amana in 1971 and the following year began a lifelong career with International Automotive Components (IAC, formerly UTA/Lear/Sheller-Globe), recently retiring after 40 years of service. She enjoyed her career and the close friends that she met along the way. Years after staring her career, Barb married Daniel Kalvig on March 23, 1985. Dan passed away in December 1999.
Her family includes her daughter, Danette Bitanas of Oxford; Danette's sister, Missy Herring; grandchildren, Summer and Jennifer Bitanas; mother, Ellen Paintin of Oxford; and siblings, Carl "Spike" Paintin (Julie Elder) of Missouri, Leona Cashwell (Gary) of North Carolina, Chris Vickers (Jim) of Kansas, Renee Martin of Oxford, Tom Paintin (Becky) of Iowa City, Sandy James (Rick) of Missouri and Mary Paintin of Oxford. Also celebrating Barb's life is a large extended family including many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; and her father, Carl.
