MARK J. MILLER
Hiawatha
Mark J. Miller, 55, of Hiawatha, formerly of Marion, died suddenly on July 4, 2018, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Mark was born Jan. 29, 1963, in Milwaukee, Wis., and was adopted by parents Jay and Dixie Miller five months later. In 1965 he was joined by a sister, Marcia, and, in 1972, a brother, Merrill. The family moved to Marion, Iowa, in January 1973, where he was educated in the Marion school system, graduating from Marion High School with the Class of 1982. He was employed by several Marion and Cedar Rapids businesses and found his passion in trucking, owning his own truck for a time. He was cited for safely logging over 1,000,000 miles. He enjoyed people and was a friend to many.
He is survived by his mother, Dixie Miller of Marion; sister, Marcia Hunnicutt of Cedar Rapids; brother, Merrill (Rebecca) Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; nephews, Nathan Hunnicutt of Ainsworth and Rice Miller of Fairbanks, Alaska; nieces, Maxine and Maizie Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; aunts, Mary Lou Miller of Bloomfield, N.Y., Mary Joiner of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Kaye Joiner of Black River Falls, Wis.; many cousins; and many good friends and neighbors who will miss him.
Mark was preceded in death by his birth mother; father, Jay Miller; grandparents, Ruth and Robert Miller and Leone and Richard Joiner; special uncles, Harwood Miller, Ray Wisozki, Jack Joiner and Rich Joiner; and special aunts, June Cain, Jean Wisozk and Maxine Blair.
A memorial fund has been established in Mark's memory.
