Kay Don Krumroy, 87, lifelong resident of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Mechanicsville First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Crystal Oberheu. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Burial with military honors: Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Krumroy; his daughters, Donna (Bud) Michels, Rhonda (Dennis) Shelton and Hope Wood; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Kay Don was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Mechanicsville, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Lillian (Stoffel) Krumroy. After high school, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Kay Don worked for FMC and General Mills for many years.
He will be remembered for his special laugh and sense of humor. Kay Don truly cared for his family and enjoyed being with his daughters and grandchildren. He loved to be outside and on the water spending his time camping, fishing and boating. He also enjoyed bowling, playing Canasta and was proud of his yard.
Kay Don was a lifelong member of the Mechanicsville First United Methodist Church, Freemont Lodge 616 of Stanwood and Busch Dennis American Legion Post 309 of Mechanicsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Krumroy; daughter, Sandi Joungsma; and grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Josh and Beth.
