Ingalls, Dorothy
Dorothy Ingalls, 93, died at Briarwood Care Center Thursday, July 19, 2012. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Ken Royar officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Sunday parking regulations will apply.
Dorothy was born May 4, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John and Ernestine (Miller) Van Oosten. On May 17, 1938, Dorothy married Morton Ingalls in Hammond, Ind. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church, Iowa City, and was a founding member of the Mercy Iowa City Stroke Club. For many years the family lived in Chicago, where she was employed as a secretary.
From 1978-1992, Dorothy and Morton lived in West Liberty, where they were members of First United Methodist Church and she was a member of the West Liberty Floriculture Club.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Sharon (Walter) Hacker of Manteno, Ill., Linda (Gary) Wickersham of Salina, Kan., and Ken Ingalls of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Laine, Robin, Trevor and Curtis; six great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Paula Ingalls and Susan Chasse', both of Iowa City.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to The Mercy Hospital Foundation for the Mercy Stroke Club.
