Weeks, Harmand Welden
Harmand Welden Weeks, 68, of 1220 34th St. NE, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Dr. Leonard Ranson of Cedar Hills Community Church will officiate. Burial, with military honors: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Harmand is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Loree Ann (Rob) Carter of Marion and Cindy (Dave) Martin of Vinton; a son, Sp4 Harmand (Chasity) Weeks of Fort Lewis, Wash.; three brothers, Ronald (Patricia) Weeks and William Weeks, both of Ottumwa, and Leland (Sharon) Weeks of Floris, Iowa; two sisters, Carol (Kenny) Sheldon of Ottumwa and Constance Clarke of Silver Springs, Md.; grandchildren, Joy (Jeramy) Fish of Urbana, Jeff Frost of Cedar Rapids, Jason (Leslie) Frost of Anamosa, Hunter and Caitlyn Martin of Vinton, Tyler and Thomas Weeks of Iowa Falls, and Caleb, Courtney and Colton Corrington, all of Fort Lewis, Wash.; great-grandchildren William and Jordan Fish, Kaden Pickrell and Hailey White; 18 nieces and nephews; 10 stepnieces and stepnephews; 46 great-nieces and great-nephews; and his faithful pet schnauzer, Maximillion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colbert and Eva Wheeler Weeks; sisters, Bonnie Bolin, Charlotte Collins and Colberta Penrod; sister-in-law, Doris Weeks; brothers-in-law, Hugh Clarke, William Bolin and Richard Penrod; niece, Rhonda Weeks; stepniece, Lebeth Carr; and nephews, Alan Weeks, Michael Clancy, Joseph Collins, Dennis Huff and Jason Weeks.
Harmand was born April 14, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Linda Lougee on Dec. 28, 1963, in Ottumwa. He was a miller at Sunopta, retiring in 2007. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a cryptologist 1st Class Petty Officer. He was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church and Fleet Reserve Association Hawkeye Branch Unit 216. He loved to fish, garden, watch all forms of nature, grilling, sports, country music, and especially spending time with his family.
