Robert J. Mrstik, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Cedar Memorial Park
Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri (Ron) Fish of Urbana, and Patti (Rod) Mrstik of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Roy (Dorothy) of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Betty Heeren of Marion.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jason (Victoria) Fish and Jeramy (Joy) Fish; great-grandchildren. Will and Jordan Fish and Jordan and Kaitlyn Guyer, all of Urbana; special friends, Carol and Jim Franks of Cedar Rapids; and his beloved cat, Stormy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Bob was born July 6, 1929, in Alburnett, the son of John and Ruth Rosendahl Mrstik. He married Barbara J. Dickson on Aug. 30, 1952, in Shellsburg. Barbara passed away in 2012.
Bob worked at FMC, Link-Belt Speeder as an inspector for many years and most recently worked in security with Per Mar. He proudly served in the Air Force.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and distributing the produce to family and friends from his large garden.
Bob's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations may be given to the Oldorf Hospice House.
