Dorothy Robertson, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Judy (Floyd) Sauter of Urbana, Jon (Gwynne) Robertson of Central City, Greg (Janet) Robertson of Cedar Rapids, Marty (Diana) Robertson of Vinton and Paul (Kim) Robertson of Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Doris) Templer of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Col. Charles Wild (Ret. U.S. Army) of Texas; and daughter-in-law, Becky Robertson of Urbana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Robertson; parents; son, Donald S. Robertson; two sisters, Loraine (Milford) Romsey and Joyce Wild; brother, James (Minnie) Templer; and grandson, Michael J. Robertson.
Dorothy was born Aug. 11, 1922, on a farm near Jewell, Iowa, the daughter of Archie and Helen (Wienke) Templer. She graduated from Randall High School in 1939. Dorothy attended Mount Mercy Junior College and graduated with an associate's degree in accounting in 1941. She married Donald A. Robertson on April 19, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, after he returned from World War II. Dorothy worked at Money Loan Corp. and later at Mercy Medical Center in the business office. She retired from Mercy Medical Center as director of patient accounts in 1984.
Dorothy loved golfing and belonged to the Twin Pines and Jones ladies groups. She spent many weekends and vacations camping with her husband and children as they were growing up. Later she and her husband golfed, bowled, traveled and went sightseeing.
