Anderson, Dorothy Irene
Dorothy Irene Anderson, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a long illness. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday t Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Hoyt and the Rev. Leroy Collins will be presiding over the service. A reception will be held after the service at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.
Dorothy Anderson was born April 23, 1921, in Marion, Iowa, to Oliver and Clara Tilton. Dorothy was united in marriage to Paul Anderson on April 23, 1941, in Marion.
Dorothy especially loved her grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed animals, especially dogs. She also loved flowers, bird watching, reading books, cooking, family vacations, playing cards, and bingo. Dorothy also enjoyed being a member of United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Paul Anderson of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Susan (Kerry) Hansen of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Judy (Bruce) Norden of Bettendorf; sister, Fern Struchen of Marion; brother, Devere Fehr of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Alissa, Tara, Austin and Erin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three newborn children.
Dorothy's family would like to extend many thanks to all doctors, nurses, friends, family, and the members of St. Mark's Methodist Church who gave her support and showed her kindness throughout her illness.
