Shirley Irene Haley, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Zachary Johnson. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Shirley is survived by her children, Chris Eidemiller of Cedar Rapids, Sharon (Bob) Swehla of Watkins, Al (Berta) Haley of Central City, Jo (Robert) Aldridge of Queen City, Mo., Fred "George" Haley of Marion and Matt (Beth) Haley of Lancaster, Mo.; grandchildren, Karen, Julie, Jamie, Chuck, Charlene, Amy, A.J., Darrel, Barb, Clyde, Mallory, Daniel, Megan and Maddie; 28 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Michelle Daugherty; three infant Nagel great-grandchildren; siblings, John "Jack" Slick, Donald "Dutch" Slick, Darlene Rhines, Wilma Dozark, Nancy Caves and Iona Richards; and son-in-law, Dick Eidemiller.
Shirley was born March 23, 1927, in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Lila (Spangenberg) Slick. She graduated from Lamont High School. On Feb. 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Frederick C. Haley Sr. Shirley worked at Rockwell Collins and was active in numerous church groups and organizations. She was an avid quilter for her family, loved to dance, sing, and she enjoyed baking cookies and cakes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Shirley's memory.
