The crab apple trees are in full bloom in the arboretum at Des Moines Water Works.
There are more than 300 varieties of crab apples and 1,200 crab apple trees at the Arie den Boer Arboretum. The trees come from many states and foreign countries.
Officials said Wednesday that the trees are now in full bloom. The arboretum is named for and was established in 1930 by horticulturist Arie den Boer.
The crab apple blossom usually happens the last week of April and the first week of May and officials say the blooms attract thousands of visitors to the park.
