DOROTHY MAY MCCOMB GRAWE

Dorothy May McComb Grawe, 93, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Lexington Estates in Independence. She was born Dec. 27, 1923, in rural Peosta, the daughter of Clifford Jay and Helen Elizabeth (Rosser) McComb. Dorothy graduated from Waterloo East High School, with the Class of 1941. She then attended and graduated from Dickinson Secretarial School in Waterloo. Dorothy worked in accounting for many years and for Willard General Hospital in Manchester for 10 years.
On Dec. 17, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to James E. Grawe in Waterloo. The couple farmed together for many years.
Survivors include her cousins, James (Jean) Zarifis of Waterloo and Frank (Ann) Zarifis of Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Grawe, on Dec. 12, 2012.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester with Pastor Mike Jackson officiating. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Dubuque.
