Bertha Willigene Lang, 77, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, in Harrisburg, Ore. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Tim Endecott will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
While Willigene suffered in her body for a season, her faith was strong and her sweet spirit and attitude never wavered. We praise God for walking with her through this process and giving her peace. Willigene was known to many for her kindness, compassion and loving acceptance. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family but they rejoice in the knowledge that they will see her again in God's kingdom.
Willigene is survived by her daughter, Christy Lang of Harrisburg, Ore.; her son, Kurt (Kristi) Lang of Harrisburg, Ore.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Jordan and Korban; a sister, Gwen (Jerry) Franks of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law, Walt (Mo) Lang of Green Valley, Ariz., and Marvin Lang of Goldendale, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Liz (George) Corey of Howard City, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her best friend for over 50 years, Mabel (Lee) Cory of Marion, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. and Winnie McMickin; her husband, Edwin Lang; sister and brother-in-law, Fay and Ken White; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Archie and Alice Lang; and sisters-in-law, Linda Roedel and Dorothy Becker.
Willigene was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Phil Campbell, Ala. She married Edwin Lang in 1962. They were married for 48 years. Willigene was an accountant clerk for the Linn County Sheriff's Office when she retired in 2002. She was a member of the Church Of God (Seventh Day). She enjoyed reading, playing games and spending time with family.
