Dean L. Havel, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Services will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Dean was born Jan. 20, 1940, the son of Louis and Ruth (Shalla) Havel. He was united in marriage to Mary Valant on Jan. 6, 1962, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Before he retired, Dean worked at Wilson's/Farmstead and Heinz.
Dean is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Chris (Lori), Mike (Vickie), Scott and Brien; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Dennis (Susan) Havel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
