Regan, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Regan, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at her son's home, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus celebrating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy is survived by five children, Barbara Sible, Mary Regan, Patrick Regan, Frances Regan and John (Christi) Regan; a daughter-in-law, Cecilia Regan; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Rollinger; and a brother, Louie Timp.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Catherine Timp; her husband, Lawrence M. Regan Sr. in February 1979; four children, Dorothy Mae Regan, Virginia Regan, Lawrence M. Regan Jr., and Raphael Regan; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Dorothy was born March 28, 1924, in Calmar, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Bernard and Catherine A. (Coburn) Timp. On May 2, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lawrence M. Regan Sr. at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in 1951.
Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and attended Mass daily. Dorothy enjoyed her time with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Dorothy's church, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in her honor.
