Robert Dart "Bob" Gritman, 92, of Marion, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at his home. A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial with military rites at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of 58 years; and two sons, James (Jenny Wright) and Steven (Lisa). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Hailey, Courtney, Brittany and Logan; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was born at home on July 10, 1928, in Walker, the son of Ivan and Philathea (Dart) Gritman. He graduated from Walker High School and later from Iowa States Teachers College (now UNI) in Cedar Falls.
Bob Served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean conflict, spending one year in Korea with the 40th Infantry Division. Upon returning home, he found employment at Collins Radio Co. He retired from Rockwell-Collins in 1990 as a mechanical engineer. While at Collins, he met his wife, Jean Tuttle. After retirement, Bob and Jean enjoyed 14 winters in McAllen, Texas.
Bob joined the Presbyterian Church in Marion in 1972, where he served as a deacon. Bob was also a member of the American Legion Post 298 in Marion.
