Strand, Nancy L.
Nancy L Strand peacefully entered eternal life Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Dubuque, Iowa, surrounded by family. A celebration of life service is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, with a visitation before from 2 to 4 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Katherine Achtemeier and the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman will officiate at the service. Arrangements provided by Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, Iowa.
She is survived by her children, Diane Salloum (Robert) of Willmar Minn., Susan Kula of Marion, Karen French (Ron) of Anamosa, Jamie Dillman (John) of Dubuque, Gary Strand (Edie) of Springville, Cyndi Toms of Oak Harbor Wash., and Coni (Mrs. Ken) Kreisch of Lake St. Louis Mo.; a brother, Steven Pierce and partner Carlo Diepenbroch; grandchildren, Shane Ehresman (Tashia), Andy Ehresman, Julie Hartzfeld (Matt), Keeley Ali (Liaquat), Breanne French, Katie Campbell (Kevin), Brandi French, Robert Dillman, Jonathan Dillman, Brennan Tesdahl, Paige Tesdahl, Micah Dillman, Jack Dillman, Alec Salloum, Erik Strand, Durc Strand, Andrew Toms, Christopher Toms and Christina Kreisch; 15 great-grandchildren; and a loving, devoted pet, Sammy Cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Nancy L Strand was born on Aug. 9, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth Klopp (Pierce). Nancy worked at Farmers State Bank for nearly three decades. She married Carleton “Sip” Strand on Feb. 25, 1984, in Marion, As a couple they enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, golfing and hosting family gatherings. “Sip” died in 1996.
Nancy had a passion for shopping, shoes, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She graduated from Marion High School in 1950. She served as secretary/treasurer for the Marion High School alumni class of 1950 for many years.
The family would like to thank Stonehill Franciscian Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa, for their compassion, consideration and loving support of Nancy and her family. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and The Alzheimers Association of Dubuque for their support.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
