Roethler, Patsy P.
Patsy P. Roethler, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from noon until service time at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Kenny Roethler of Cedar Rapids; children, Jim (Shirley) Lang of Chattanooga, Tenn., Debra (Sue Ayres) Lang of Eau Claire, Wis. and Dennise (Mark) Weber of Waterloo; two stepchildren, Renata LaMar of Atalissa and Richard Roethler of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Luke (Crystal) Weber, Becca Weber and Trey Roethler; one great-grandchild and another one on the way; and brothers, Don Kitchens of Palestine, Texas and Tommy Kitchens of Ottawa, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Barbara (Herman) Elrod.
Patsy was born on April 11, 1937, in Tyler, Texas, daughter of Arthur and Edna (Terrell) Kitchens. She graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas, in 1955. Patsy served in the United States Air Force in California, and was honorably discharged in 1956. She then moved back to Tyler before moving to the Midwest. The next 17 years she was a loving mother to her children. Patsy worked at Home Savings and Loan in Waterloo from 1975 to 1996. In 1986, she met Kenny Roethler and they married on Aug. 27, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made a loving home in Cedar Rapids. She loved to read, garden, sew, quilt, knit and go to the casinos. Her pride and joy was her children and grandchildren.
