Vanourney, Wilma L.
Wilma L. Vanourney, 75, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 22 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Diane Townsley presiding. Burial will be in Blaine Cemetery near Swisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Wilma was born July 18, 1937, in Oxford, the daughter of William Owen and Lillian Elizabeth (Biggs) Edwards. She graduated from Oxford High School as valedictorian. Wilma married Robert L. Vanourney on Sept. 4, 1955, in Oxford. For many years she worked at the Amana Arts Guild in High Amana. She enjoyed quilting, going to auctions, antiquing, canning and cooking.
Wilma is survived by her children, Becky (Mark) Winistorfer of Lisbon, Barbara Mrazek of Cedar Rapids and Bruce Vanourney of Swisher; a grandson, Aaron (Darci) Slager of Fort Worth, Texas; her granddaughters, Samantha Mrazek and Vanessa Drew, both of Cedar Rapids; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Stratton of Cedar Rapids; as well as dear close friend, Dick Terrell of Swisher.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, on Nov. 16, 1996, and four sisters, Dorothy Edwards, Patricia Bigelow, Martha Hoffman and Mary Jeck.
