On Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, Carie Lyn Goode, loving daughter, sister and aunt, passed away at the age of 56.
Carie was born Aug. 30, 1962, in Detroit, Mich., to Richard D. Goode and Beverly J. Doud (McEntee). Carie graduated in 1980 from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. She was an Olympic caliber swimmer, establishing records in 10 different events. One record stood for over 21 seasons. Carie also held the record for the most Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Champion-ship titles with seven. She earned All-American recognition in three different events, she received the State of Iowa Athlete of the Year award and in 2001 was inducted into the Kennedy High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Carie went on to Iowa State and then moved to the Chicago area to work at defense contractor Northrop Grumman. She coached swimming and then moved to Indianapolis, where she made her home the last 10 years.
Those who knew her know there was not a mean bone in her body. Her kind spirit will be missed.
Carie was preceded in death by her father, Richard D. Goode.
She is survived by her mother, Beverly McEntee (Jim); her sister, Cathy Goode (Arthur) Levinson; her beloved nephews, David, Mitchell and Bradley Levinson; and aunts, uncles and cousins whom she was very fond of.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together there is something you must always remember … . You are braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is even if we are apart I'll always be with you.
