Hoffa, Marilyn 'Colleen'
Marilyn “Colleen” Hoffa
Marilyn “Colleen” Hoffa, 81, a resident of the Keystone Cedars, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Rev Emory Gillespie will officiate. Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.
Survivors include a daughter, Belinda (Kevin) Loux of Center Point; a son, Michael (Annette) of Lebanon, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Julianne Hoffa of Rochester, Minn.; a sister, Wanda (John) Wallace of Des Moines; and a brother, Gerald (Delores) Dunagan of West Des Moines. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Gregory and David; two sisters, Bonnie Dunagan and Gloria Milligan; a brother, Ernest Dunagan; and a granddaughter, Alexandria.
Colleen was born on Oct. 6, 1931, in Des Moines, the daughter of William and Marjorie Foust Dunagan. She married Gerald F. Hoffa on March 4, 1951, in Des Moines. Gerald died in 2004. Colleen worked for the telephone company in Des Moines for several years, later at Life Investors/AEGON, retiring from there after 20 years of service in 1988.
Colleen was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered, as well as at St. Lukes Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and meals at Greene Square Park. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to the same local bridge club for over 35 years. Colleen's most treasured times were gardening and spending time with her family.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy.
