Kimmerle, Harold W.
Harold W. Kimmerle, 91
Born Sept. 4, 1920, at Rowley, Iowa, Harold was the son of Paul and Mary (Arnold) Kimmerle. He married Alma Sherrets on Aug. 4, 1940, and they farmed in the Rowley area before moving to a farm near Dundee in 1956. Harold was a farmer who took pride in being a good steward of his land and livestock.
Harold was an “uncommon man” whose faith directed the way that he lived his life.
Harold was non-judgmental. He recalled that when he was instructed in the Lutheran faith, he was taught “to always put the best interpretation on your neighbor's actions.” He served on the Good Neighbor Home board and was a Sunday school teacher at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee.
A lifelong musician, Harold accompanied his violin-playing father on the piano at an early age, brought together the Sonshine Singers at St. John's, performed at nursing homes with Alma, and taught himself to play the guitar and accordion. His life went on “in endless song.” We believe heavenly music just got a little stronger.
Harold was preceded in death in 1999 by his wife of 59 years, Alma (Sherrets).
Harold was a gentle and loving father.
Survivors include four children, Bruce (Peggy) Kimmerle of Centerville, Betty (Myron) Zumbach of Coggon, Rebecca (Joel) Berry of Dundee and Brad (Darla) Kimmerle of Dundee; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and by his beloved friend, Betty Ruth Davis of Manchester.
His life on earth ended on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
