HAROLD W. LOHF
Luzerne
Harold W. Lohf, 89, of Luzerne, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital Hospice Center in Cedar Rapids of Parkinson's Disease. Graveside service with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine with Don Drahos officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Luzerne Fire Department, Belle Plaine Ambulance Service or St. Luke's Hospice Center. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.
Harold was born Feb. 12, 1927, to William and Pearl (Berkheimer) Lohf, in Luzerne. Following graduation from Belle Plaine High School in 1944, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his return from the war, he continued to farm with his father and brother, later, on his own farm northwest of Luzerne. On April 19, 1949, he married Doris Yuska of Clutier, and raised his family. Harold farmed for more than 70 years, raising cattle and growing oats, corn and soybeans. In October 2013, Harold became one of the many service men and women to visit the memorials in Washington D.C., on an Honor Flight, an experience he truly enjoyed.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris; children, Sally (Ron Clay) Kruckenberg of Keystone, and Dale (Melody) Lohf and David (Kathy) Lohf, both of Luzerne; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elmer Lohf.
Harold's family would like to thank all of the staff at St. Luke's Hospice Center in Cedar Rapids and especially to Dr. Karl Homes and his staff at the Belle Plaine Clinic.
