Sejkora, Harold S. 'Pappy'

Harold S. “Pappy” Sejkora, 89, of Marion, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his home. Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. H. Burr Bryant, with visitation to follow until 6 p.m.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Jean; children, Denny (Shari) Sejkora of Marion, Gary (Pam) Sejkora of Dubuque and Pat Akers of Marion; five grandchildren, Sean, Brian, Becky, Ben and Jason; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Freeman of Tipton.

Harold was born in Walker on Dec. 20, 1920, the son of L. Stanley and Clara M. (Zabokrtsky) Sejkora. He graduated from Marion High School in 1939. On Feb. 8, 1947, Harold was united in marriage to Jean A. Elder in Iowa City. He farmed in the Marion area for over 70 years. Harold's life was his work on the farm and his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice in Harold's memory.
