Harold Earnest Hensch, 87, of Tipton, peacefully entered eternal rest while surrounded by his beloved family on Monday, April 4, 2016, at Cedar Manor. Visitation and funeral service information is as follows: Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, at the funeral home.

Harold's journey began March 9, 1929, in Bennett, Iowa, where he was born to Herbert and Anna (Stolte) Hensch. He attended and graduated from Tipton High School with the class of 1946, before serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950. Harold was united in marriage to the love of his life, the late Bonnie Geane Hensch, in Wheatland, Iowa, on June 18, 1950. They were blessed with two children, Sheryl and Harold Jr.
Harold was employed with the Iowa D.O.T. for 31 years before his retirement. Fishing, camping and enjoying the outdoors was how Harold liked to spend his days. He also enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes sports and Cubs games. He was a proud member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Yerington; son, Harold (Kathy) Hensch; sister, Carolyn (Ron) Belitz; brother, Howard (Jo) Hensch; four grandchildren, Kelly (Kenny) Moen, Kris (Jess) Hensch, Michelle (Brandon) Ford and Nick (Kimberly) Yerington; two stepgrandchildren, Tracy (Shannon) Bergmann and Troy (Kelly) Bergmann; six great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
