David W. Henderson, 76, of Quasqueton, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at Lexington Estates Care Center in Independence.
David was born April 8, 1939, near Rowley, Iowa, the son of George R. and Helen L. (Stevens) Henderson. He graduated from Rowley High School and began farming with his family near Rowley. He also served eight years in the Iowa National Guard. On May 14, 1961, he was married to Frances L. Starks in Quasqueton. In 1974, the family moved into Quasqueton, where David began working for Quamaco as a machinist for several years. Later he was a med tech with the Mental Health Institute in Independence for 20 years before his retirement.
Dave enjoyed camping, fishing and motorcycle riding, and he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances Henderson, Quasqueton; three daughters, Jolene (special friend Rob) Brockmeyer, Independence, Loretta (Eugene) Myers, Lamont, and Carolyn (Michael) Faust, Strawberry Point; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Allen, Kimmi (A.J.) Martinson, Travis (Melissa) Myers, Jason (Carlie) Myers, Christina (Josh) Rader, Janelle (Joey) Forney, Lisa (Joe) Souza and Dustin Faust; eight great-grandchildren, Marcus, Mason, Corbin, Gracie, Chase, Asher, Sidney and Grady; and a sister, Miriam Smith, Independence.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jeanett Henderson; and a sister, Anita Christensen.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union Church, Quasqueton, with the Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Quasqueton, and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
