Frances L. Henderson, 75, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
Frances was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of William "Bud" and Wilma M. (Gienapp) Starks. She attended Delhi schools. On May 14, 1961, she married David W. Henderson in Quasqueton. The couple farmed in the Quasqueton area until moving into Quasqueton in 1974. Frances also was a self-employed seamstress, worked with the Pie Factory, MHI, Triangle Plastics and East Towne Manor, before her retirement.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting and gardening and loved spending time with and baking for her family and friends, making sure all were well-fed.
She is survived by three daughters, Jolene (special friend Rob) Brockmeyer, Independence, Loretta (Eugene) Myers, Lamont, and Carolyn (Michael) Faust, Strawberry Point; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Allen, Kimmi (A.J.) Martinson, Travis (Melissa) Myers, Jason (Carlie) Myers, Christina (Josh) Rader, Janelle (Joey) Forney, Lisa (Joe) Souza and Dustin Faust; eight great-grandchildren, Marcus, Mason, Corbin, Gracie, Chase, Asher, Sidney and Grady; a sister-in-law, Miriam Smith, Independence; and two very special pets, Benji and Katie.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David W. Henderson, on March 25, 2016; a daughter, Jeanette Henderson; and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Starks.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Union Church, Quasqueton, with the Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, and from 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the church.
