John Robert "Bob" Broadrick, 79, of Vinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. There will be no services. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Susette; sisters-in-law, Mary Broadrick and Penny McCullough; brother-in-law, William (Judith) Burmeister; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born April 29, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of David and Emma (Keeley) Broadrick Sr. He graduated from Clinton High School and Clinton Community College. On Sept. 19, 1969, he married Susette Burmeister in Cedar Rapids. Bob dedicated 40 years as a switchman for Northwestern Bell. After retiring, he discovered a passion for woodcarving and metal work. Bob enjoyed caring for many dogs over the years and watching sci-fi, especially "Star Trek." He was a quiet man, but fiercely loyal to his small group of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Broadrick Jr.
