Allen "Al" Lee Wimer, 63, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa.
Allen is survived by his wife, Julia; daughter, Becky Harford and her children, Kaitlynn and Kylee of Marion; stepson, Chad Simonton and his daughter, Rayne, of Chillicothe, Ill.; daughter, Kim (Tim) Johnson and their children, Paige, Chloe and Jayce of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Steve (Carla) Wimer of Toddville and Jeff (Sherry) Wimer of Texas; his father, Jerry of Reinbeck; and his beloved dog, Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor; brother, David; and grandparents.
Allen was born Dec. 30, 1952, the son of Jerry and Eleanor (Kading) Wimer. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School. On Oct. 5, 2002, he married Julia Lee Workman in Cedar Rapids.
Allen was a sheet metal fabricator for many years. He enjoyed the sport of racing in Iowa as an owner/driver. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his dog, Dawson. He loved his family and grandkids very much and will be greatly missed.
