Michael R. Allen, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, in his home. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. David Renfro. Inurnment at a later date in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Survivors include his children, Glen Allen and Heidi Allen, both of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Faye Allen of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Becky Allen of Kearney, Neb., and Penny Allen and Pam Allen, both of Cedar Rapids; his stepchildren, Rob Martin of Cedar Rapids and Jim Martin of Burlington; his former wife and friend, Marie Sullivan of Cedar Rapids; his aunts, Treva Lehn, Cheryl Ansbach, both of Kearney, Neb., and Naomi Brown of Fallon, Nev.; and his grandchildren, Austin, Trenton and Octavious.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Warren Allen; and his uncles and aunts, Richard and Bev Allen, Wayne Brown, Terry Ansbach and Hilda Caserio.
Michael was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Burwell, Neb., the son of Robert W. and Faye Allen. He married Marie Sullivan in Cedar Rapids. They later divorced and remained friends. Michael was employed by the Cedar Rapids School System as a building engineer.
He enjoyed fishing, football and spending time with his grandsons and ferrets.
