SW Iowa tornado had peak winds of 125 MPH

THURMAN, Iowa (AP) - The tornado that devastated the town of Thurman cut a path of damage across nearly 11 miles of southwest Iowa on Saturday.
The National Weather Service says the tornado that struck the town of about 250 was about a half mile wide when it was on the ground.
The storm damaged nearly every building in Thurman and uprooted trees, but only minor injuries were reported in town.
Fremont County officials did not immediately respond to messages Monday afternoon about how much damage the storm caused.
The Weather Service says the Thurman tornado had peak winds of 125 mph, which makes it an EF-2 tornado. It struck shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
