LINDA JORDAN
Mount Vernon
Linda Ann Jordan, born April 21, 1939, in Detroit, Mich., died Sept. 26, 2015, from complications of pneumonia. At the time of death, she was surrounded by her loving family.
Linda earned a double-degree in English and Spanish from Albion College and then a master's degree in Spanish from the University of Michi-gan. At Albion, she met Truman Jordan and they happily married in 1961. They moved to Mount Vernon in August 1966.
Linda enjoyed church, sports, reading, writing (letters and cards) and singing in the choir. She lived a life of service, working in the church kitchen, leading both the United Methodist Women and League of Women Voters, and attending the Methodist Annual Conference.
Linda spread love and kindness to her friends and family. She was deeply proud of her three daughters and treasured her time with them and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and LaNelle Wilcox, and her siblings, Leonella, Leonard Jr. and Nancy.
She is survived by her loyal husband, Truman; as well as her daughters, Jenny Jordan (Eric Wood), Jackie Morrical (Andy) and Joy Jordan (Mark Johnson); and her grandchildren, Emma and Sam Jordan-Wood and Matt and Mandy Morrical.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon or Jubilee Partners (www.jubileepartners.org), an organization Linda admired and supported for its helpful work with refugees.
The family extends thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hallmark for their loving care of Linda the last few years.
Visitation for Linda will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon and her funeral at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the church. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
