IOWA CITY - Iowa City construction company owner Scott McDonough has thrown his hat into the upcoming Iowa City Council election.
McDonough, who owns and works at design and construction company McDonough Structures Inc., announced last week his candidacy for Iowa City Council's District C.
McDonough, 50, has served on a number of local boards and organizations in recent years including Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, Englert Theatre board of directors, Johnson County Affordable Homes Coalition, Iowa City Board of Appeals, and the city's ad hoc inclusionary housing committee for Riverfront Crossing District.
'Iowa City is moving in a positive direction. I want to use my experience in the business world and as a community volunteer to keep the momentum going,” McDonough said in a news release. 'A strong economic landscape in Iowa City goes hand in hand with a thriving arts culture. Economic stability and growth will also sustain and enhance social goals.”
McDonough graduated from the University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business in 1988.
