Wendell was born in Stratford, Iowa. He grad-uated with honors from Iowa State University and was a Cardinal Key recipient. He was married to the love of his life, Dortha Jane Rothlisberger, for 71 years. They were blessed with two sons, Ken (wife, Patti) and Neel (wife, Judy); granddaughter, Kim (husband, Rick); and three great-granddaughters, Morgan, Lindsay and Emily.
Wendell was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; and his son, Neel.
Wendell's final wish was for his remains to be donated to University of Iowa College of Medicine, where his wife's remains were also donated upon her death in 2010.
There will not be a memorial service.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the residents and staff at The Meth-Wick Community for making Dad and Mom's final years there so happy and comfortable. A very special thank you also goes to the staff at The Woodlands for loving and caring for our Dad in his final year.
