Parsons-Boots, Betty
Betty Parsons-Boots, 70, of Hopkinton, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 5, 2009, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, with her family by her side, following a yearlong battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11 o'clock Friday morning at First United Church of Hopkinton, with interment in Hopkinton Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Hartman will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton.
Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at
two sisters-in-law, Shirley Zumbrunnen, Monticello, and Wilma Parsons, Hopkinton;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dwayne and Dean.
Betty Zumbrunnen was born Dec. 29, 1938, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn Zeadow Zumbrunnen. Betty received her education in the Monticello Community Schools. Betty Zumbrunnen married Richard Lee Parsons on March 10, 1956, at Kahoka, Mo. The couple lived in Monticello and Betty was employed at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. In 1960, when they moved to Hopkinton, Betty started working at Lux Hatchery. Richard died July 9, 1982. Betty continued her working career at Mac's Mini Mart in Hopkinton. Betty Zumbrunnen Parsons and Loren Boots were married Feb. 5, 1991, at Zapata, Texas. Betty started working at Farm Tek in Hopkinton when they opened and relocated with them to Dyersville. Loren died Aug. 17, 1997. She retired from Farm Tek in 2004.
Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the caregiver of the family. She will be greatly missed.
