JOHN MARTIN MOORE
Boise, Idaho
John Martin Moore, 84, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2017, of natural causes. John was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mary Martha Moore and Clifford Charles Moore.
He graduated from Wilson High School and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean War. He received his B.A. degree in biology from Iowa State
University. John married Janice Mary
Bowers on Dec. 27, 1959, in Ames.
John worked as a lab technician for Fairmont Foods, Good Humor Ice Cream in Chicago and Economic Laboratories in Lincoln, Neb., and finally settled in Boise in the 1970s at Idaho Farmer Stockman Insurance.
John loved gardening, Steelhead fishing and all of the other Idaho outdoor activities. He loved Boise and Iowa State athletics. He retired in 2001 and spent quality time with his wife of over 57 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth, and granddaughter, Sarah, of Seattle, Wash.; son, Charles (Lyn) Moore of Boise; sister, Leota Yanda of
Cedar Rapids; and brother, Clifford Moore of Mount
Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brothers, Bobby, Hillard and Mike Moore.
A private family service will be held in Pioneer Cemetery, Idaho City, Idaho.
He was an expert in dairy production, avid cheese connoisseur, a cheerful, outgoing sales executive, and a fine role model, with a disarming sense of humor. He was one of those people who could talk to a stranger like he had known them all of their life.
He will be missed by all.
