Milligan, Donald B.
Donald B. Milligan, 83, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Monday, May 30, 2011. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Dan Hoeger. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, military honors by American Legion Hanford Post No. 727.
Survivors include his brother, Vernon Milligan of Cedar Rapids; cousin, Kathleen DeForrest of Yorba Linda, Calif.; nieces and their husbands, Sandi and Michael Donoghue of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Barb and Bill Ciha of West Branch, and Nancy and Gary Milder of West Branch; nephews and their wives, Mark and Pam Lodge of Texas and Mike and Mindy Lodge of West Branch; and eight great-nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Milligan; sister and her husband, Betty (Milligan) and Clarence Lodge.
Born March 3, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Donald was the son of William and Pauline (Lesinger) Milligan. He attended Cedar Rapids schools, graduating from Wilson High School. Donald started working for Century Engineering in 1946 until 1950, when he entered the United States Army serving his country until 1952. He then resumed working at Century Engineering until 1985, when the plant was sold.
Donald was a former member of Machinists Union Local No. 831.
Donald enjoyed flowers, gardening, walking his dog and was an avid book reader.
A memorial fund has been established in Donald's memory.
