Regina Ackeson
REGINA MAE (FUNK) ACKERSON
Marion
Regina Mae (Funk) Ackerson, 86, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in Hopkinton Cemetery.
Regina was born July 26, 1930, the daughter of Jake and Louise (Schmidt) Funk. She was married to Elnor Boots on May 15, 1946. He passed away in September 1991. Regina was then married to Robert Ackerson on June 5, 1994. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2016.
Regina was a wonderful mother to Diane (Bill) Cooper of Lisbon, Connie Boots of Cedar Rapids, Denny Boots of Cedar Rapids and Bobbie McLane of Palo. Her grandchildren, Michael Cooper, Keith Cooper, Jenny Cooper, Bryan Boots, Shane Neunaber, JC McLane, Melanie McLane, Cody Boots and Tonya Boots, all were her treasures.
Also surviving are son-in-law, Bruce McLane, and two stepdaughters, Kathy Ackerson and Roberta Ackerson, and their families.
Regina will be greatly missed by all her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Chaz, Brody and McCoy Boots, Jamie and Madison Cooper, Chloe McLane, Nataliea Davidson, Adam Zack, Makyla and Darek Neunaber, Izabella Kies and Jacelin McLane, who visited her at the nursing home and loved to color with her.
Regina lived in Martelle and worked at LeFebure and Doerr Electric before retiring to Guttenburg and then Lake Delhi.
She was an excellent cook who specialized in homemade noodles. She and Elnor loved to fish, and she and Bob loved to dance.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and all 11 of her siblings.
There are not enough words in the dictionary to express how grateful the family is to the Crestview Acres staff for the care and love they provided for our mother.
