Mr. John R. Holtz, 89, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Ellijay, Ga.
He was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Greely, Iowa, to Thomas and Matilda Raible Holtz. He was a retired auto body repairman and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores Walker Holtz, who died in 1961, and his wife of 42 years, Janet Ferguson Holtz; his brothers, Thomas and Gerald Holtz; and sister, Dolores Holtz Wilson.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Bud Stanford of Ellijay, Ga., Joni and Tom Hoyland of Ellijay, Ga., Kathrine and Andrew Springer of Citra, Fla., and Lisa and Mike Russell of Spring Branch, Texas; stepdaughter, Donna Hillis of West Branch, Iowa; stepson and daughter-in-law, Neil and Jeanie Ferguson of Earling, Iowa; sisters and brother, Catherine Volz, Sister Lucille, Sister Matilda and Paul Holtz; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The family will visit with friends and family at St Jude Catholic Church from 9 to 10 a.m. before the service.
