Roger McCraney, 51, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life potluck for Roger will be held by his sisters at a later date, they will let friends know the date and time.
Survivors include his girlfriend of 18 years, Becky Boots; children, Ashley McCraney, Joshua Russell and Jacob McCraney; brothers, Patrick McCraney, Mike McCraney, Randy McCraney, Tony McCraney and John McCraney; and sisters, Vernice Jo Antrim, Barbara Sero and Angela Wilson.
Other survivors include a grandson, Devon McCraney; and many neices and nephews who loved him dearly and will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica McCraney; his mother, Geraldine McCraney; his dad, Vernon (Bud) McCraney; and his sister, Carole Sparks.
Roger was born Jan, 9, 1963, in Waterloo, where he was raised. He was a house painter.
Roger was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved singing karaoke and doing his Jerry Lewis act and making people laugh. He loved his sports as well, he was a Minnesota Vikings fan and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
