Peterson, Marilyn
Marilyn Peterson, 80, died Monday evening, March 5, 2012, at Jones Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. As per Marilyn's wishes, all services and interment will be private. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is caring for Marilyn and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Ken; four children, Kendy (Les) Behrends, Florence, Ala., Maria (Mike) Tuttle, Green Cove Springs, Fla., Cindi Kramer, Monticello, Ken (Chirinjev) Peterson Jr., Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Luthro, Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jason Behrends; a brother, Duane; and a sister, Mary Ellen Wilson.
Marilyn E. Howard was born Nov. 27, 1931, in Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ernest and Albertina Brennan Howard. She was a graduate of the Tipton High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She taught in elementary schools in the area. Marilyn married Kenneth Peterson on June 1, 1950, at the Nolan Settlement, near Morse, Iowa. After the couple moved to Monticello, Marilyn started the Mother Goose Pre-School in 1964.
