Michael J. Weidlein, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital. A private family service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristine (Christine Mahoney) Weidlein of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Thomas (Lisa) of Staten Island, N.Y., and Daniel (Iris) of Cedar Rapids; and four sisters, Kathi Elder of Shueyville, Patti Bowman of Minnesota, Sheri Berstler of Fairfax and Sandi Kinch of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Angela, Kristen and Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike was born Nov. 14, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Harold and Doris (Morrison) Weidlein. He worked in maintenance at ADM and retired from there in 2015 after 39 years of service.
Mike was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 238. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoyed watching sports on television and fishing. His greatest joy however was the time spent with his beloved family.
He will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring father, brother and grandfather whose memory will be cherish by all who knew and loved him.
