Zeman, Darlene L.

Darlene L. Zeman, 86, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Atrium Village in Hills, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with a parish vigil service at 6 p.m.

Darlene Loretta Loney was born July 12, 1924, in Iowa City, the daughter of Thomas and Loretta (Draker) Loney. She was united in marriage to Donald J. Zeman on Jan. 23, 1945, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City. She worked for Iowa City Telephone Company for a number of years, and for over 20 years worked along side of her husband in their business, Don's Bicycle Shop on Fifth Street in Coralville. She had been a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Her family includes her husband, Donald; two children, Tom and his wife, Karen Zeman, and Dona MacMillan, all of Iowa City; grandchildren, Bonnie McCarron (Scott), Michael Zeman (Lynne), Jeffrey MacMillan (Amber) and John MacMillan (Karen); and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Mallory and Brianna McCarron, Rachel and Hannah Remer, Daniel, Joshua and Jacob Zeman and Zach, Peyton and Ethan MacMillan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Duane and Bernard Loney; and sister, Lavone Thomae.
